Jackie Levy is the 2013-2014 President of the Sacramento County Board of Education. She was elected to the Board in 2010 and has served as chair of the Budget committee for 3 years and was Board Vice President last year. Jackie also served on a statewide committee to develop a model credit policy for Foster Youth, which she presented to the California Child Welfare Council in 2013 and on the nominating committee for the CCBE (California County Boards of Education) in 2011.
Prior to her service on the Board, Jackie was a high school principal for 8 years at Cordova High School and an English teacher and vice principal before that (El Camino High School, Rio Americano High School). Since retiring, she has been an active community volunteer, serving as a mentor for alternative high school students, a literacy tutor for third graders, a judge for various academic competitions, and at local college fairs representing Stanford University.
Jackie earned her BA degree from the University of Rochester and MA from Stanford. She is also a certified Water Fitness instructor and enjoys helping people stay active and fit in the water.
A Sacramento resident for more than 35 years years, Jackie is married and has two sons who are graduates of local public schools, as well as 5 grandchildren.
